Submission Guidelines

The Spectrum Journal of Physical Therapy (SJPT) welcomes original contributions that advance research, education, and practice in physical therapy and rehabilitation sciences. Authors are requested to carefully follow these guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.


1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

  • Original Research Articles (3,000–6,000 words)
  • Systematic and Narrative Reviews (4,000–7,000 words)
  • Clinical Trials / RCTs (as per CONSORT guidelines)
  • Case Reports / Case Series (1,500–2,500 words)
  • Short Communications (up to 2,000 words)
  • Letters to the Editor (up to 1,000 words)

2. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The text must be in English and prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced throughout.
  • Page numbers must be included in the footer.
  • All manuscripts must follow APA 7th edition reference style.

3. Structure of Manuscript

  • Title Page
    • Title of the manuscript
    • Full names of all authors, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and email addresses
    • Corresponding author’s name, email, and contact number
    • Funding and conflict of interest statement
  • Abstract (250–300 words)
    • Structured format: Background, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion
    • Include 3–6 keywords (MeSH terms preferred)
  • Main Text
    • Introduction
    • Methods (include study design, participants, interventions, ethics approval, and statistical analysis)
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)
  • References (APA 7th edition; include DOI where available)
  • Tables and Figures (submitted separately, properly labeled, high-resolution images)

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Studies involving humans or animals must include a statement of approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Ethics Committee.
  • Written informed consent must be obtained for case reports or identifiable patient data.
  • SJPT follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for publication ethics.

5. Plagiarism Policy

  • Manuscripts will be screened using iThenticate/Turnitin.
  • Submissions with >19% similarity index or >5% from a single source may be rejected.

6. Submission Process

  • Authors must register and submit through the online submission system available at: https://spectrumjpt.com
  • Each submission must include:
    • Cover Letter (declaring originality, authorship, and conflict of interest)
    • Manuscript file
    • Tables/Figures (if separate)
    • Supplementary data (if applicable)

7. Review and Publication Process

  • All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
  • The editorial office may request revisions before final acceptance.
  • Accepted manuscripts are published online under the CC BY-NC 4.0 License.

8. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • Currently, SJPT does not charge any submission or publication fee.
  • This policy may be updated in the future and will be communicated on the website.
